Do You Have to Be Tall to Model?

It depends on the kind of modeling you want to do. Height rules are real in one corner of the industry, and they barely matter in most of the work that books every week in Calgary.

Runway and high fashion

Fashion week and designer runway shows have the strictest requirements. Women are usually expected to be around 5'8" to 6'0", and men around 5'11" to 6'3". Sample sizes are cut for that height, so there's very little room to bend.

Commercial modeling

Commercial work is the ads you see every day: real estate, banks, grocery, cars, local brands. Clients want people who look like their customers, so heights range widely.

Most of the paid jobs House of Wild books fall into this category.

Promo and brand ambassador work

Events, product launches and sampling programs hire for personality, reliability and energy. Height rarely comes up at all.

Fitness, lifestyle and parts

Fitness clients look for athletic build and form. Lifestyle shoots want natural, relatable people. Hand, foot and hair models are booked for one feature, and height isn't part of the brief.

Petite models

Shorter models can absolutely work, especially in commercial, beauty and social content. Strong digitals, great skin and good on-camera energy book jobs at any height.

Measure yourself honestly

Clients search our roster by height and measurements, so an accurate number puts you in front of the right jobs. Adding an inch only gets you booked for something that won't fit on the day.
